Rule 124: UK Speed Limits

- Built-up areas (street lights): 30 mph (48 km/h)
- Single carriageways: 60 mph (96 km/h) for cars
- Dual carriageways & Motorways: 70 mph (112 km/h) for cars

Stopping Distances (Rule 126)

Stopping distance = Thinking distance + Braking distance.
- In wet weather, stopping distances are at least DOUBLED (2x).
- In icy conditions, stopping distances can be TEN TIMES (10x) greater.

Pedestrian Crossings (Rules 191–199)

- Zebra crossings: You MUST give way once a pedestrian has stepped onto the crossing.
- Pelican crossings: Flashing amber means give way to pedestrians on the crossing; proceed if clear.
